Science SMART series is developed to cover comprehensively the learning outcomes of the latest Cambridge Primary curriculum framework.

Adopting the Inquiry Approach, Science SMART uses engaging visuals and presentation formats with well-crafted activities to arouse pupils’ curiosity about the world around them. This motivates pupils to learn, enabling them to better grasp key scientific concepts. At the same time, emphasis is given on developing pupils’ inquiry and process skills, critical thinking, as well as 21st Century skills. 

Together with the SMART characters. Smarty, Min, Ari, Rita and Tom, Pupils will embark on a journey of discovery through each chapter.

Science SMART Level 1 (aimed at year1) comprises the following components:

  • Textbook Level 1
  • Workbook Level 1
  • Teacher’s Guide Level 1 — Contains Scheme-of-Work, lesson plans, wraparound teacher’s notes for Textbook and Workbook, with additional information and tips on conducting and delivering effective Science lessons.
  • Additional worksheets for consolidation, fun & games, and exam practice are available online for teachers.

Level 1 Science Smart includes the following topics:

  • My Body - parts of the body, how to keep clean
  • All About Senses - How do we learn about the world around us?  What are out senses?  Why are our senses important to us?  How can we protect our senses?
  • Healthy Eating - Why do we need food and water?  What types of foods are there?  How do we eat healthily?  What are some healthy food choices?
  • Animals - What are the parts of an animal? How do animal's senses compare with ours?  What are some characteristics of animals?  How are animals different from one another?
  • Plants - What are plants?  What parts do plants have?  What are some characteristics of plants?  How are plants and animals similar?  What are some types of plants?
  • Materials Around Us - What are living and non-living things?  Where do materials come from?  How do we describe materials?  How can we group objects by their properties?  What are the properties of some common materials?
  • Forces - What makes things move?  What is a force?  What can forces do?  What are some natural forces?
  • Sound - Where do sounds come from?  What types of sounds are there?  How are sounds useful to us?  What sounds do musical instruments make?
